A serial entrepreneur wants help setting up their latest side business. But who should they choose to hire? In this role-play, the entrepreneur will negotiate with both an experienced consultant and with an intern, and decide who to retain.

This role-play may be done sequentially or asynchronously (e.g. online), with the entrepreneur negotiating with the freelancer and intern a maximum of three times each. It provides negotiating practice for people recruiting for start-ups, for freelancers, and for interns seeking work.

Description

A serial entrepreneur wants help setting up their latest side business. But who should they choose to hire? In this role-play, the entrepreneur will negotiate with both an experienced consultant and with an intern, and decide who to retain.

This role-play may be done sequentially or asynchronously (e.g. online), with the entrepreneur negotiating with the freelancer and intern a maximum of three times each. It provides negotiating practice for people recruiting for start-ups, for freelancers, and for interns seeking work.

Note: This role-play can be adapted to two people, so that there are two unrelated negotiations between the entrepreneur and freelancer, and entrepreneur and intern.  In that case it will take approx 45 minutes to complete rather than 1–2 hours.
